House Hunters and Fixer-Upper Celebrities

A fixer-upper is a real-estate term for a purchased property which will require maintenance work such as renovation,reconstruction, redecoration or redesigning although some houses can be lived in as it is. The fixer-uppers are popular with home buyers or homeowners, who wish to raise the potential price value for their property to get a return on investment, a practice known as flipping, or as a starter home for buyers on a budget. Television shows about Home-improvement to solicit customers about do-it-yourself (DIY) renovation techniques which have made fixer-uppers more popular. However, during a downturn on real-estate business, with newly homes built available at depressed prices, there is often reduced interest. House hunters or buyers, underestimate most often the amount and cost of repairs necessary to make a home livable or saleable. Most of the issues during reconstructions or remodeling homes, dealing about Structural and service issues such as the foundation of their  home, plumbing and electrical installations, which frequently not seen at first, and can require expensive, rpofessional contracting work. Various reality television show’s subject is about fixer-uppers or flipping of rundown houses such as:

1)  Fixer Upper

Fixer Upper is an HGTV TV show starred by couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines, based in Waco, Texas where they lived for more than ten years, and formerly owned Magnolia shop and now runs Magnolia Homes. The Fixer Upper reality television show, was first aired in 2014 and has been signed on for a second season. Fixer Upper pairs renovation, design and real estate pros Chip and Joanna Gaines in Waco,Dallas, Texas-area buyers to renovate the wrong house that’s in the right location, and it’s their vision to inspire others to love the space they are in.Chip and Joanna Gaines, have been flipping, remodeling and fixing up homes together for the past 12 years as owners of Magnolia Homes in Waco, Texas, and have been flipping on more than 100 homes together, combining Chip’s great instinct on real estate and the unique designs of Joanna Gaines. Chip Gaines met Joanna Stevens after they both graduated from Baylor University, fate played a role in bringing them together as their love for remodeling and flipping houses. Chip and Joanna Gaines purchased, gutted and renovated their first building together, shortly after their wedding in 2003, and Joanna opened a home accessory store called Magnolia Market. After eight years of being married, the couple found an amazing way to balance having four children, Drake age 6, Ella Rose (5), Duke (3) and Emmie Kay (2), while growing their business to include a real estate company, construction company, design firm and residential subdivision, known as Magnolia Villas, while Chip continued working in real estate by buying, renovating, and selling homes to the Baylor market. After a few years, Chip’s experience with real estate and Joanna’s eye for design eventually merged into Magnolia Homes company, which was created as a creative compilation of construction with a heavy emphasis on quality and unique design, and also offers residential and commercial remodeling,design, and new home construction. The couple also offer real estate services with their Magnolia Realty company in the Central Texas area. Joanna Gaines has reopened her boutique on Bosque Blvd and also has an online store offering the Magnolia style to those beyond the Waco market.

2)  Love It or List It

Love It or List It  is a television show of home design in Canada, airing currently on the W Network and OWN Canada produced by Big Coat Productions based in Toronto and in Ontario, Canada.On September 8, 2008, the Love It or List It show premiered on W Network as a primetime program and has since aired on OWN Canada and also in HGTV in the United States. The subject of the show, Love It or List It, is about a homeowner couple or family who has to decide between keeping their newly renovated current home (as Love It) or to buy a new home and sell their current renovated home (List It), with the help of hosts Hilary Farr, home designer, and David Visentin, a Realtor. Designer Hilary Farr handles design and renovation on the current home, while Realtor David Visentin finds new possible homes. Hilary Farr , 52, born as Hilary Elizabeth Labow, is an international home designer and co-host of the television show Love It or List It, along with co-host Realtor David Visentin. The Love It or List It show is broadcast on the VIVA, both American and Canadian versions of the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, HGTV and W Network. The show is broadcast with dual sound-track in Spain with Spanish voices-over and English on Divinity. Hilary Farr was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 31, 1951, but grew up in London, United Kingdom. Hilary Farr made small appearances in movies such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975 and Makeover Manor in 2013. Farr purchased various properties and renovated them. Farr is married to Gordon Farr, divorced and together has one son.Hilary Farr reveals in an interview with Notable Media, that her auditions for Love It or List It came after what Farr describes as a “horrible divorce”experienced feelings of anger, bitterness and total resentment towards her ex-husband. Farr decided to audition for the show in order to channel away her negative emotions and also an advice from a friend, and later  was signed by Corus Entertainment and Big Coat Productions in 2008 as co-host along with David Visentin.  

  David Visentin 

David Visentin is a realtor based in Canada and one of the hosts of reality television show Love It or List It along with his co-host designer Hilary Farr, aired on the VIVA, both American and Canadian versions of the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, HGTV and W Networks. David Visentin was born and grew up in Canada, and began his career in 1987, worked at Country Living Realty as in Barnie, Ontario, and at the same time he worked alongside his father, Nick Visentin. David Visentin worked on the real estate or housing market, discover new potential homes for numerous clients or house hunters for over 16 years. Visentin was signed on by Big Coats Productions as one of the hosts of the television show, Love It or List It series under W Network alongside his competitor, designer Hilary Farr. Visentin and his co-host Hilary Farr became judges on the W Network and HGTV reality series Brother vs. Brother with Property Brothers Drew and Johnathan Scott.  Visentin is currently married to Tia Visentin, and together they had a son, Logan, and has previously worked for Bell Canada and Rogers Wireless before pursuing his housing market career.

  Eddie Richardson

Eddie Richardson, is a contractor on television series, Love It or List It who started his own family business which turned into a passion, who credits his time as a pro-beach volleyball player and professional bass fisherman in helping him develop into one of Canada’s top home renovators. Richardson worked and led the crew of Love It or List It, as the contractor alongside designer, Hilary Farr. Richardson as the contractor, must pull out all the stops to give the home owners a better remodeled home,  before the episode to free up space, and that causes often other problems, for example, if the wall is load bearing, or if there are code or safety violations. This issue however, cause extra expenses of the homeowner’s budget, forcing reductions from their request list, with Hilary showing the problem to homeowners, describing what will be cut in scenes that are commonly subject to confrontation. After Hilary Farr discuss the problem to the homeowners, a follow-on shots often show the couple or family being upset over problems which was exposed from not meeting the requirements of their own house. Although it is unclear in the show, that at the beginning of the show, Farr, has over-promised at the show, without doing her due diligence to see if what she thinks can be done, which can be done, or might be heavy with extra-costs.

  Desta Ostapyk

Desta Ostapyk, is a Toronto-based designer who graduated in 2004 from the Toronto International Academy of Design and Technology in Interior Design. Ostapyk focused on a career in the Television Industry, and first started working with Big Coat Productions during her last semester of school as an intern for HGTV’s hit series My Parents House, and soon became the Design Stylist for the show.

3)   Love It or List It Vancouver

Love It or List It Vancouver  is a home design reality television series franchised by the show Love It or List It aired on the W Network based in Greater, Vancouver Area, and in some areas in British Columbia, Canada, also produced by Big Coat Productions. In January 2013,  the Love It or List It Vancouver show premiered as a primetime show on W Network. The show is starred by Jillian Harris, former Bachelor and Bachelorette star, and real estate agent Todd Talbot. In the United States, The Love It or List It Vancouver show is titled Love It or List It, Too aired on the HGTV network. Jillian Harris is born in Peace River, Alberta, Canada on December 30, 1979, known as one of the star in The Bachelor and The Bachelorette on ABC, and also worked as a designer on Extreme Make Over Home Edition also on ABC. Harris returned to Canada, to compete against co-host realtor, Todd Talbot. Her job just like, Hilary Farr, is to make their clients love their homes again on the show. Jillian Harris runs her own brand or interior decor goods. Harris was a contestant in 2009′s American television show The Bachelor season 13, and end up as the second runner-up. Jillian Harris also joined the American TV show The Bachelorette season 5, in mid-2009, as its first Canadian star. Harris was a designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2010, and hosted Canada’s Handyman Challenge season one of Canadian TV show in 2011, which aired in 2012. She is currently working as the designer on Love It or List It Vancouver in 2013 with co-host Todd Talbot, and her assistant designer Dana Valeria based in Vancouver.

  Todd Talbot

 Todd Talbot, born in 1973 is a former actor, now a realtor, and is co-host and rival of home designer Jillian Harris. Todd has been married since March 2007, to international singer and model Rebecca Talbot. Rebecca born as Rebecca Elizabeth Codling in 1981, in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. Rebecca Codling Talbot is an actress known for her roles in 2006′s Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Diff’rent Strokes, 2007′s Married Life, and The X-Files in 1993. Talbot and Codling met while Rebecca was playing the role Maria in the play West Side Story. Talbot’s job is to get clients on the show to list their home for a better opportunity just like realtor of Love It or List It, David Visentin.

4)  Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is an American reality-television series providing home  improvements or renovation for families who are less fortunate and also community schools or community playgrounds.The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show is hosted by former model, Design Team Leader, carpenter and television personality Ty Pennington. The famous line Good Morning! of Ty Pennington has become a sign of hope for families and communities, as he has helped transform many lives, and an inspiration to millions more around the world. Every Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode, features a family that has faced recent or ongoing hardship such as a natural disaster, giving hope for a family member with a life-threatening illness. The producers of the show coordinate with a local construction contractor, then coordinates with various companies in the building trades for a makeover of the family’s home as the sponsors of the show, such as their home’s interior, exterior and landscaping, which is constructed in a week time, while the family is on paid-vacation by the producers of the show, documented in the episode. Some houses are too old and in some cases, if their homes is beyond repair, the makeover team replace the house  entirely. The producers of the show and crew film set, perform the makeover but do not pay for it, because the materials and labor are donated. The show invites many skilled and unskilled volunteers that can assist in the rapid construction of the house. ABC announced on December 15, 2011, that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition would end its run on January 13, 2012, however, the show will continue to air as a special show on the network.Tygert Burton “Ty” Pennington born  in Atlanta, Georgia born Gary Tygert Burton on October 19, 1964, an American TV host, artist and carpenter, best known as the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which aired in the US on ABC, until the show was cancelled in December 2012 and will return with specials and Ty’s Great British Adventure, aired on Home and TV Land in the UK. Previously, Pennington was a carpenter on the TLC reality show Trading Spaces previously. Ty Pennington manufactures a line of furniture with the Howard Miller Company currently. Gary Tygert Burton, better known as Ty Pennington, is the second son of school psychologist Yvonne Burton, separated from Ty’s father when Ty and his older brother Wynn were very young, and spent several years as a single parent before she remarried.Their stepfather adopted both Ty and Wynn, giving them the name Pennington. Pennington grew up in his hometown Marietta in Atlanta, Georgia. When Ty was age 17, he was diagnosed with ADHD and has been an advocate for the treatment of the disorder, particularly for children. Ty described himself as Jack of all trades learned woodworking early in life. His interest in home improvement began when he and several neighborhood kids built a three-story treehouse in their neighborhood, which Ty, who was then 12 years old designed the treehouse. Ty started teaching himself about carpentry and home improvement. Pennington was spotted by a modeling scout, and soon began a career in that field, and traveled the world and landed printjobs for J.Crew, Swatch and Sprite, and appeared in television commercial for Diet Coke, Levi’s, Macy’s and Bayer. Pennington traveled in several countries like Japan, Thailand, Italy, Canada and Germany working as a model.

  Paul DiMeo

Paul DiMeo born February 12, 1958 in Media, Pennsylvania, a family of five children, is an American television personality, philanthropist, building designer and carpenter, a regular cast member of the reality television Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series. Paul DiMeo was the organizer of a renovating project Loft Living, which they work to renovate lofts (a large,  unpartitioned floor over a factory, warehouse, or other commercial or industrial space)and brownstones in and around New York City. DiMeo later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he continued his project Loft Living. DiMeo worked with master carpenter Rob Hickman on the restoration of Aaron Burr‘s Landmark Brownstone, and currently residing with wife Kelly DiMeo  in Los Angeles and runs his marketing and labor company, High Meadows Production, Inc. DiMeo is sometimes spoofed on Saturday Night Live due to his tendency to cry frequently during Extreme Makeover’s each episode. Paul DiMeo currently stars on the National Geographic Channel‘s in the Building Wild reality show.

  Alle Ghadban

Alle Ghadban is of Lebanese descent, but was raised in Ottawa, Canada, a designer who joined the Extreme Makover: Home Edition season 1 and left the show after season 1. Alle is a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit in both New York and Los Angeles aside from his work in the movies and television roles. Alle Ghadban owns a construction company.

  Paige Huff-Hemmis

Paige Huff-Hemmis born in Wisconsin on March 17, 1972 is an American television personality, and host of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series. Paige Hemmis founded a real estate company that bought and renovated houses in 2001, and also found business in construction industry in the marketplace when it is about women’s tools and products. Tuff Chix is inspired by the hardwork and determinations of Hemmis and features such items who always wear pink when working from her gloves, boots and tool belts.Paige Hemmis released her first book, The Tuff Chix Guide to Easy Home Improvement, in 2006 to inspire other women to tackle DIY (do-it-yourself) projects with confidence. She is currently working to develop television and film projects through her Tuff Entertainment Group. Paige was cast on the season 1 in the carpentry team, and considered her role on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition a blessing and felt fortunate to make her living helping others. Paige Hemmis, as an entrepreneur made her skills perfect and effective as co-founder of Rent-To-Own Investments, which her private company renovates homes and develops rent-to-own solutions for homeowners who cannot afford the steep down payment usually required to purchase.

  Tracy Hutson

Tracy Hutson  is a TV reality personality, one of the original style consultants on ABC TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, as Shopping and Style who joined the show in Season 1.Tracy  Hutson who grew up in Dallas, Texas, has appeared in a numerous national television commercials, as well as sitcoms such as Damaged Goods and Less Than Perfect. Hutson’s roles in film such as the 1997 independent film Mixed Signals, the 2000′s Endsville independent film, and the May 2000 TV movie Rated X, starring actors Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. In 1999, Tracy Hutson began her career as a stylist and designer when she started her own business in designing in Los Angeles. In 2003, Hutson later joined Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC TV as a style consultant, and still appear on the show until 2012. In 2011, Hutson and fellow Extreme Makeover personality Tanya McQueen debuted the show in 2011 in Picker Sisters on Lifetime, where Hutson and McQueen as they travel around the United States searching for antiques and rare collectibles for their home decor store in Los Angeles. Tracy Hutson  married actor Barry Watson on July 14, 2006, and separated in 2011, and together the couple had their first son, Oliver, born on May 2, 2005, and their second son, Felix, born on November 13, 2007. On May 30, 2012, Hutson’s ex-husband Barry had a daughter, Clover Clementyne Watson to girlfriend Natasha Gregson Wagner, daughter of actress Natalie Wood. 

  Tanya McQueen

Tanya McQueen is an American reality TV personality and interior designer in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on television, which was her debut in an episode titled The Teas Family aired on October 2005. On August 2, 2011, McQueen and fellow Extreme Makeover television personality Tracy Hutson debuted the show on Lifetime in Picker Sisters in 2011. Tanya McQueen born in Columbus, Texas on February 18, 1972, now age 43, also an actress and hosted Hitched or Ditched on the CW Network, and appeared in 2003′s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, in 2004′s Property Ladder, where a producer of ABC noticed McQueen and offered her to join the home makeover show. Tanya McQueen and her cousin were flipping real estate, by homeowners who purchase rundown houses at big discounts, repair them, and resell them for profit, operating under the name Tattered Hydrangea. McQueen was featured on the show Property Ladder on TLC Network. Tanya McQueen is the Interior Designer in the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition joined the show in Season 3 and left the show after season 5. 

   Michael Moloney

Michael C. Moloney born in Palos Verdes, California on December 14, 1963, is a television personality and decorator who appear regularly on the reality TV series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Moloney has also appeared regularly on the Style Network show Clean House. Before working on as an interior designer, Michael Moloney spent ten years in the fashion industry and later appeared in home edition as the Interior Designer and Glamour who joined the show in season 1.

  Ed Sanders

Ed Sanders born in Wimbledon, London on May 10, 1975, age 38, is an English carpenter, actor, and television host. Sanders learned carpentry at his father’s instructions to keep himself employed while working on acting jobs. Sanders landed the role of Eddie Moliano in the Dream Team Sky1 series in 1999, became a reporter in RI:SE morning show and became host of the reality show Fear Factor UK version. Sanders moved to the U.S. with his wife and son in 2004. Sanders was hired to work as a carpenter and designer on reality television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, where he had an accident and was injured severely, cut through his hand, nearly severing his thumb. Ed Sanders returned to the show after months of surgery and therapy. AMC debuted the new reality show Owner’s Manual  on August 15, 2013, hosted by Ed Sanders and Marcus Hunt. Sanders started Limey Yank Productions, a creative production company in 2006, with American writer Whit Honea. The name of the company is a play based on the slang terms Limey (a predominantly North American slang nickname for Britons especially those from England) due to Sanders being British, and Yank (a term Yankee and from the root word Yank, have various interrelated meanings referring people from the United States) as Honea is from the U.S. Sanders is married to Gioia Gagliano, an Italian-American magazine and fashion-show make-up artist, who gave birth to triplet daughters on May 5, 2007 in Los Angeles, California,Scarlette, Azure and Lucia and a son, Max (born 2003). Sanders joined Extreme Makeover:Home Edition Season 2 in Carpentry team.

 Eduardo Xol

Eduardo Torres Xol born February 19, 1966, is an American television personality, designer, entertainer, social activist and businessman, best known to American television audiences on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition season 2 until season 8 for his work as a designer and landscaping formerly aired on ABC. Eduardo Xol had experienced several of accomplishments on both a national and global level before joining the cast of designers on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition on ABC.  At one time, He was one of the youngest musicians to be scouted and chosen to perform when he was age ten,with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Xol decided to make the United States his home in 1998, as he moved into the world of lifestyle and design from his experience in musical composition and entertainment production. He started to spent time with his father and learned the art of caring for bonsai trees, and worked hard for his aesthetic design  and life philosophy. Eduardo Xol’s compositions, especially in exterior design, have been on display for millions of people each week as one of ABC’s syndicated television show, Extreme Makeover:Home Edition co-stars. Eduardo Xol joined the cast in Season 2, and recently wrapped Season 8, which the series reruns and began airing August 7, 2007 on TV Land.

  Rib Hillis

Robert Duane “Rib” Hillis born in Suffern, New York on November 21, 1971, is an actor and male model, producer, known for his role in 1963′s General Hospital, 1997′s Port Charles and 2012′s Groom’s Cake.  He was nicknamed Rib while in third grade who loves to play with frogs enjoying the sound made by the frogs. Rib Hilis is married to Melissa Blackler, and together the couple have twins Dane and Hannah Hillis. In 2008 the couple separated. Hillis married Elena Grinenko a ballroom dancer, on August 17, 2012. Grinenko is the world champion and former Dancing with the Stars pro. In 2005, Hillis appeared as a male lingerie model on an episode of America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 4 in The Girl Who Pushes Tyra Over the Edge episode. Hillis move to Los Angeles on spring 1996, and landed a role as Jeds on an episode of Baywatch Nights. In 1997, his most notable role as an actor on General Hospital’s spin-off as Dr. Jake Marshak episode Port Charles. Hillis was on the show from 1997 to 1998 and he played the role as Ethan Winthrop in May 2006, as he substituted for Eric Martsolf on Passions, when Martsolf took paternity leave for his newborn twin sons. Rib Hillis has appeared in several television shows such as Ugly Betty, CSI and CSI: Miami. Hillis has also a starring role in the feature Propiedad Ajena. Rib Hillis has done two home improvement shows, such as Model Citizen and Get a Grip. In the Fall 2007 TV season, Hillis joined the design carpentry team on ABC’s Extreme Makeover:Home Edition season 5 and left show after season 6.

  Daniel Kucan

Daniel Charles Kucan  born October 16, 1970, is an actor, artist, carpenter, interior designer, writer and TV personality, previously with co-hosts of Michael Moloney and Tanya McQueen on the Emmy Award-winning Extreme Makeover:Home Edition TV series. Kucan toured Japan with a circus type show based on the movies of George Lucas after graduating from NYC, he returned to New York and worked as a performer until 1999, when he moved to Los Angeles. Kucan moved back to California and became the lead designer for Hollywood’s Mortise and Tenon and founded the Raw City Home Lounge design team. From 2005-2006, Daniel was the resident carpenter and Interior designer on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition season 3 and left the show after season 3. Kucan was known for building in recycled and renewable materials, often resulting in unique compositions of off-beat character. He also hosted the Home & Garden Television series Desperate Spaces along with Lise Simms. He is currently living in Los Angeles, California with his wife and his two dogs. Kucan is also  an expert in at least two different Chinese martial arts, and occasionally competes and fights competitively. Daniel Kucan is the brother of Joseph D. Kucan, actor and video game developer.

5)    Income Property

Income Property is a home-improvement program hosted by Scott McGilliway aired on HGTV, which the show introduces various houses then executes a renovation, remodeling and designs of the selected property to prepare to rent a part of it and allowing the couple to live in the other part of the house. On January 1, 2009, the Income Property series premiered on HGTV, a half-hour long until 2013, when it became an hour-long show. Host Scott McGillivray is born on April 7, 1978, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, is a Canadian real estate investor, TV host, financial expert, contractor, writer, public speaker, educator, and host and executive producer of hit series Income Property, a home renovation show on Home & Garden Television in United States and Canada. McGilliway is also a judge on HGTV show All American Handyman with Mike Holmes and also in Canada’s Handyman Challenge with Mike Holmes, Bryan Baeumier and Paul LaFrance. Scott McGilliway purchased his first rental property and renovated at age 21, and at age 23, he already owned 5 rental properties. In 2004, McGilliway became a licensed contractor to manage his own crews. McGilliway has now built a real estate empire with properties across Canada and the United States housing hundreds of tenants. He is married with two daughters. His family divides their time between residences in Toronto, Ontario and Fort Myers, Florida. McGillivray is a judge rating the renovation abilities of four couples competing to win big money at auction in a home-flipping competition in HGTV’s Flipping the Block. The contestant- teams transform identical run-down condos, then sell them to the highest bidder. Scott McGillivray guest judges  were  Nicole Curtis, David Bromstad and host Josh Temple.

Mike Holmes

Michael James Holmes is a Canadian reality TV personality on residential home improvement contractor and TV host, started with shows such as Holmes on Homes showing how he rescues Toronto, Ontario, area homeowners from renovations gone wrong. He then continued in his successor Holmes Inspection television series. Homes is also a judge on Handyman Superstar Challenge  HGTV’s show and All American Handyman, its American counterpart with co-host Scott McGilliway. Holmes had started his first contracting company at age 19, with 13 crews, then he founded his own renovation company at age 21. Mike Holmes has run two companies during his 20-year career of as a contractor.Holmes has three children, Amanda, Sherry, and Mike Jr. and have all appeared and worked on his shows.Mike Holmes started The Holmes Foundation in 2006, after seeing a renovation that was done very poor in quality, and he felt it was necessary for him to tear the house down and start all over again rather than try to repair the damage. Holmes on Homes first started in 2001 and Broadcast on HGTV Canada, BBC Canada, and Casa for the French version. The show also airs on HGTV United States, DIY Network  in New Zealand on The Living Channel, in Australia on Lifestyle Home, in the United Kingdom on Discovery Shed (formerly Discovery Real Time), on DMAX in Germany  and on the Home Channel in South Africa.

Bryan Baeumler

Bryan Baeumler born on April 18, 1974, is a Canadian TV host on HGTV US and HGTV Canada shows, and has been a host on several shows, including Disaster DIY, Disaster DIY: Cottage Edition, Leave It To Bryan, which became the highest rated series ever on HGTV Canada. Bryan Baeumler is also a judge in Canada’s Handyman Challenge with co-host Mike Holmes and Scott McGilliway. In 1995 Baeumler runs an air-cargo business until 2003. Bryan is also President / CEO of Baeumler Quality Construction and Renovations Inc. Bryan Baeumler married his wife Sarah on March 26, 1978, and together they have four children, Quintyn Werner, Charlotte Anne, Lincoln Wolfgang, and Josephine Judith.

Twin brothers Jonathan, who is 4 minutes older than his twin Drew, also have a show called Brother vs. Brother. Drew Scott is a real estate expert who search for neglected houses and handles negotiation of the purchases. Jonathan Scott, his twin brother, is a licensed contractor who handles the renovation and remodeling of the houses. The Property Brothers help couples and their families find, buy, and transform fixer-uppers into dream homes on a strict time-line and budget. After the home buyers narrow it down to two houses, the brothers use computer-generated imagery to show their imaginary vision of the home after renovations.  Jonathan and Drew was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and older brother J.D. Drew Scott

Andrew Alfred Scott, better known as Drew Scott, was born in Vancouver, Canada. Drew is the youngest of three boys. His father, Jim Scott was a former actor and assistant director until the late 1970′s, when he decided to quit from the film industry and focus on raising his family. Their mother,Joanne Scott, worked as a paralegal in downtown Vancouver. Twin brother, Jonathan Silver Scott, best known as Jonathan Scott, is an accomplished actor, host and illusionist, while their older brother J.D. Scott who also love writing and work on film and production, resides in Las Vegas. Drew began acting in theater, at a young age, and sketch comedy. Drew’s television appearances in 1993′s Madison, in 1997′s Breaker High and in 2001′s Smallville. Drew developed an interest in directing and producing, and he and his brothers began investing in real estate as a means for funding projects. This project has proved to be a successful venture which later, in 2004, the Scott brothers established their own company,  Dividian Production Group. Drew has produced several films through Dividian Production Group  which have toured the festival circuit, which he has produced film and TV galas and events like the Leo Film & TV Awards in Hollywood North and the Producers Ball during the Toronto International Film Festival. Drew’s latest project is co-hosting the hit HGTV show Property Brothers in 2011 with his twin brother, Jonathan. The Property Brothers series focuses on helping families get into their dream homes with the budget that they could only afford. The Property Brothers show, is a perfect project for Drew since it blends two of his passions, real estate investment and his television production. Drew is a dual citizen and holds passports in Canada and the United Kingdom (European Union).

8)  Rehab Addict

Nicole Curtis born August 20, 1976 is the host of DIY and home renovation show Rehab Addict on HGTV, which Curtis advocates for the preservation and restoration of the existing architectural building from demolition when feasible. Nicole Curtis is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but she has also rehabbed homes in Cleveland, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. On October 14, 2010, the show Rehab Addict debuted on the DIY network and also airs on HGTV’s primetime season 4 in January 2014.  Nicole Curtis is a self-taught home rehabber and designer, is also a mom, a master of salvage picking and a spirited advocate for saving old houses and rebuilding communities, resourceful, creative and always in motion, Nicole Curtis is hands-on with all of her projects and would not have it any other way, where her work reflects her passion for creating amazing budget-minded designs. Nicole Curtis also harnesses her experience with interior design, contracting and real estate to rebuild neighborhoods one house at a time in Detroit and Minneapolis, shown in her Rehab Addict series airs on DIY Network and HGTV. .

9)  Carter Oosterhouse

Carter Nicholas Oosterhouse born in Traverse City, Michigan on September 19, 1976, is an American TV personality and model, when he first gained fame as a carpenter on the Trading Spaces series on TLC and has hosted other home improvement television shows. Carter Oosterhouse is the host of three programs on the HGTV network as of 2008, Carter Can, Red Hot & Green and Million Dollar Room. Carter Oosterhouse is the child of Mary López and Roland Oosterhouse, where he started his career as a carpenter began at the age of 12, and after learning carpentry as an apprentice to his neighbor, also a carpenter. Carter continued to work in carpentry and construction while attending school following in the footsteps of his older brothers, Todd and Tyler, who are also carpenters.Carter has attended the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools for his formal education, and graduated as B.A. in nutrition and communication from Central Michigan University. Oosterhouse relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Film and television after college, and also worked behind-the-scenes for the Project Greenlight, is a television series focusing on first-time filmmakers being given the chance to direct a feature film, as a production assistant and tape coordinator. As a model, Oosterhouse is the face of the men’s Nautica‘s fragrance Voyage. Carter Oosterhouse has been named one of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue, as Sexiest man on TV, and was also named by TV Guide Channel, Inside TV magazine and Cosmogirl, as one of the sexiest men on television. Carter Oosterhouse married actress and former model Amy Smart on September 10, 2011, in Traverse City, Michigan.

10)  David Bromstad

David Reed Bromstad born August 17, 1973, is an American designer and television personality, when he became the winner of the debut season of HGTV Design Star in 2006. David Bromstad is the host of his own television show on HGTV, Color Splash with David Bromstad, which debuted in March 2007, also the show Color Splash Miami on HGTV which debuted in 2010. David Bromstad was the youngest of four children born to Diane Marlys Krueger- Bromstad, is of Swedish and German descent and Richard Harold David Bromstad is of Norwegian descent, in Cokato, Minnesota.David’s other three older siblings, Dean Richard Bromstad, Dynelle Renee Bromstad, and Dyonne Rachael Bromstad. David Bromstad  was always interested in art and design, and made a decision to pursue a career as a Disney Animator while studying at Wayzata High School. After being laid off as a Disney illustrator, Bromstad started his own company, Bromstad Studio, after he was laid off as an illustrator in Disney. where his company design fantasy bedroom for children. Bromstad moved to Miami Beach after a friend’s suggestion, and tried out for the reality show competition Design Star on HGTV to pick a host for a new show on the HGTV cable network. Bromstad competed against nine other potential designers, on Design Stars, winning the grand prize, a car, and the chance to host his own show on HGTV. In Color Splash‘s 23rd episode, Bromstad noted that HGTV opted for a second set of 26 episodes, and was a guest on Design Star second season of HGTV, appearing as a guest-judge in the first episode and to provide moral support to the finalists in Challenge 7: Island Dreams.David Bromstad became the spokesperson for Mythic Paint in 2008. became a brand enthusiast for Miele home appliances.  Bromstad is the host and mentor of HGTV Design Starseason 6 and host of season.

11)   HGTV Design Star

HGTV Design Star for the first seven seasons, is an American reality competition show aired on the HGTV cable TV network, which premiered July 23, 2006, and has completed the series’ seven seasons. Clive Pearse became the host for Seasons 1 to 4, while Vern Yip as the Deserving Design, designer Genevieve Gorder (known for her own show is Dear Genevieve), and Sabrina Soto ( known for her show The High/Low Project) currently serve as the show’s three judges. In seasons 5 and 6, Candice Olson (known for her show (known for her show in Divine Design and Candice Tells All) served as a judge for starting with season 7, when Olson left the show a third rotating judge was introduced to fill the vacant slot. Previous judges such as designer of fashion and home accessories, Cynthia Rowley, Executive Editor of InStyle  magazine Martha McCully; and Mary Jo Wardle. The plot of the show is about the contestants competing for their own design show on HGTV, The remaining contestants participate in an interior design challenge each week, such as designing a living space with a specific purpose or creating space in an empty room or bedroom, living room, garage, using unconventional items from a pet store, mechanics store, or a discount store. The designers are given a specified amount of time and cash to create their designs, sometimes they worked as a teams or working as individual. Clive Pearse  is a British-American television host, and is one of the HGTV’s hosts home design oriented show Designed to Sell. Clive Pearse, became American Citizen in 2002, who was originally from the United Kingdom, who moved in 1997 to Los Angeles, where he expanded his show-business credits with a successful voice over career. Pearse talents for voice over can be heard in his characterizations for the Academy Award–winning movie Shrek and in countless appearances on national TV and radio commercials, such as spots for Jaguar, Land Rover and Ziploc. Pearse’s TV career began in England, where he was best known for hosting for three shows for NBC Europe.

Vern Yip

Vern Yip born June 27, 1968, in Hong Kong, is an American interior designer based in Atlanta, Georgia, also appeared on the show Trading Spaces on TLC, through its fourth season, and was known for designing rooms using frequently silk, candles and flowers. Vern Yip is one of the panel of judges of the show Design Star on HGTV, and also hosted four seasons of Deserving Design HGTV’s show. Yip hosted an HGTV special called Urban Oasis, currently, in which he designed a Chicago loft in the Trump International Hotel, to be given away to a winner. Yip earned two degrees before taking-up his pre-medicine program, but  he changed his mind, and decided to get into architecture.  Vern Yip said, he would have been quite happy running a design company, and had no intention of becoming a television personality, but he is very happy with the new show, and he felt it was what he was meant to do. Vern Yip, was raised by his mother and has a sister, residing in Hong Kong. Yip is also involved in various volunteer activities, including doing design work for Snowflake Ball in New York City in 2009, and also a fundraiser for UNICEF. Yip and his partner, Craig Koch, welcomed son Gavin Joshua Mannox, born by surrogate, on January 6, 2010. On March 12, 2011, the couple welcomed their second child, Vera Lillian Beatrix, was also born via surrogate.

Genevieve Gorder

Genevieve Gorder born July 26, 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is an American TV host and interior designer, and currently the host of Genevieve’s Renovation and Dear Genevieve on the HGTV cable channel. Gorder was also a judge on Design Star on HGTV and the host of White House Christmas also on HGTV. Gorder currently resides in Manhattan with her daughter Bebelle. Before being known as a designer, Genevieve Gorder worked as a commentator on the MTV series Sex in the ’90s, before she became as designer, and became one of the original designers of the hit series Trading Spacies on TLC. During her tenure at Duffy & Partners in New York City, she designed the bottle for Tanqueray No. 10 gin. Gorder became know on Trading Spaces and became famous for her soulful designs and her unusual habit of working barefooted. She parodied her lack of footwear in a series commercials of Swiffer sweeper that started running on television in 2003. Gorder has always said that her preference for working barefoot was in order not to ruin shoes, and not for comfort reasons. Genevieve’s next project, Dear Genevieve, which premiered in January 2009 on HGTV, which the show featured about people who wrote in to her program, and Gorder solving problem on designs in-person. Genevieve Gorder is one of three judges on the design panel of Design Star on HGTV which was renamed HGTVStar in 2013, Gorder shown in the show as advising and critiquing designers looking to achieve status on television. In July 2014, Gorder’s newest series premiered, a show about the renovation of her own life and home in Manhattan, also a personal look at what it is to be a designer, and a reverse client as she designs for herself and her daughter.

Candice Olson

Candice Olson born October 27, 1964, is a Canadian interior designer, and the host of the shows Divine Design and Candice Tells All a Toronto-based home-makeover shows, which air on the W Network in Canada and on HGTV in the United States. Olson made her skills effective for several years in various top interior design firms in Canada. In the fall of 2001, Divine Design debuted in the fall of 2001, on W Network in Canada and quickly established itself as one of the network’s flagship shows.The series premiered two years later on HGTV in 2003 in the United States in more than 90 million homes. Olson’s new series, Candice Tells All, premiered on January 1, 2011 on HGTV, and debuted on the W Network in Canada on January 6, 2011.  Olson married builder, Jurij Sennecke and have two children, Piper and Beckett. Olson’s two pregnancies were discussed on Divine Design’s various episodes, during the second and fourth seasons. The Olson family lives in the Toronto Metropolitan area. Candice Olson wrote her first book, Candice Olson on Design: Inspiration and Ideas for Your Home in 2006, in  which she shares design secrets, smart tips, and practical advice to help readers plan and execute successful room makeovers.

Sabrina Soto

Sabrina Soto is born in Miami, Florida, the first generation of her Cuban family to be born in the United States. Soto grew up  helping her mother with her decorating and home-staging business during her early career. Sabrina Soto began developing and love for designing, a special skills for creating beautiful spaces on a budget and an ability to clean and organize just about various  spaces. Sabrina Soto later became known as a television host on TLC and MTV series and on Yahoo! web-based series, where Soto interviewed famous celebrities and recording artists. Sabrina Soto is a licensed real estate agent and studied interior designing in UCLA. Aside from her love for designing, Soto loves beach, hiking a trail and learning new recipes, also hosting Get It Sold in 2007. 

12)  Flip or Flop

Flip or Flop is an HGTV television series hosted by couples Tarek El Moussa and his wife Christina, real estate agents who purchase old houses, owned by banks, short sales or foreclosures to renovate, make-over and resell. They hunt properties which are most located in Orange County, California. Flip or Flop production is almost complete in June 2014, on Season 3 and Season 4 production will soon begin. Tarek Moussa was born on October 9, 1978 in Alexandria, Egypt and was raised as an orthodox Christian, then in August 1999, Tarek moved to the United States on his own, and had only $300 in his pocket, worked as sushi chef for a year and a half, and thought himself to speak English, and after five years of hard work he was soon driving a Mercedes. Tarek Moussa worked different odd jobs such as limo driver, security guard in convenience stores, dry cleaning shop, shipping and handling company and gas stations, while studying electronics engineering at Bunker Hill College. In 2002, Moussa graduated with honors with a degree in electronic technology. Tarek began working in electronics, in the electrical semiconductor and in the biomedical industries after graduation, helped develop computer memory chips, heart defibrillators, ion implants on a silicon wafer, and surgical brain medical devices. Moussa was discovered by a talent scout in 2003, at a Boston area mall, and he started doing promotional and print work and his acting career began later.

Tarek Moussa, is a self-proclaimed real estate genius with a determination and drive with his wife Christina, who are stars of the new HGTV reality series Flip or Flop. Tarek and Christina buy a new property and flip and redesigned the houses in every episode shown. From the auction of the properties, to the frustrating renovations, and disgusting old houses, to the acceptance of an offer, the show follows the couple try their hand in one of the toughest industries. Flip or Flop show is about the couple, Tarek and Christina from buying properties, renovate and to resale, weaving their personal lives within the story of the flip. Tarek and Christina have been married for several years and have a 2-year-old daughter, Taylor. In 2013, Tarek 32,  knew something was wrong, Moussa claimed of hard time swallowing, and a lump was getting bigger, as he reveals in PEOPLE. On June 12, after a biopsy and an ultrasound the  lump was diagnosed as being cancerous and should be removed immediately. The surgery ended up in four hours, it was cancer, and they ended up removing my entire thyroid. Last Friday, Tarek did get some good news, and was told that the cancer didn’t spread beyond his neck.

13)  The Jennie Garth Project 

 The Jennie Garth Project,  premiered  September 16, at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, and will be seen working hands-on during the entire renovation. The Jennie Garth Project will record Jennie and her contractor Scott as they strip her Hollywood Hills home down to its studs and build it back up to become her ultimate dream home. Jennie will get down and dirty refinishing the kitchen and bathroom cabinets to save money, and will crank up a chainsaw to clear the brush and small trees from her property. The series will feature Jennie’s smooth, modern style renovations, room-by-room transformations. Jennifer Eve “Jennie” Garth born on April 3, 1972, is an American actress and film director, best known for her role as Kelly Taylor in television series Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise, and on the sitcom What I Like About You as Valerie Tyler. Jennie Garth starred in her own reality show, Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country on Country Music Television (CMT) in 2012. Garth began taking acting classes, going to auditions almost daily and soon landed a role as Erica McCray in the 1989′s A Brand New Life television series in 6 episodes, on NBC which ends in 1990. Garth landed her first role in Growing Pains television sitcom. In 1994, Jennie  Garth married Daniel Clark, and they divorced in 1996. Garth met her second husband in 1995, actor Peter Facinelli, while filming the movie An Unfinished Affair, and married on January 20, 2001, in a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony. The couple have three daughters, Luca Bella (born 1997), Lola Ray (born 2002), and Fiona Eve (born 2006). Peter Facinelli filed for divorce in March 2012, which was finalized in June 2013. Garth briefly dated Michael Shimbo, CEO of Trains, Planes and Automobiles in 2013. The Jennie Garth Project, a ten-episode reality TV series was announced on February 18, 2014, that the production will air on HGTV, which will cover Garth as she renovates a Hollywood Hills home in California, for herself and her three children, which the series is scheduled to premiere in September 2014.

14)   Flip It Forward

The HGTV show, Flip It Forward, hosted by the Benham brothers were the planned to premiere in October,where they would have helped families purchase homes they could not afford. However the said show was cancelled and was never aired due to some controversies regarding about the brothers ran afoul of the network after the site Right Wing Watch published a post, labeling David Benham as an anti-gay, and anti-choice extremist, reportedly leading a prayer rally in 2012 outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. A recording of Benham talking to a talk show host about was posted on a site, of Benham’s controversial comments, taking hold in colleges and public schools, and he also discussed the fight for North Carolina’s Amendment One, which involved a ban on same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution. Benham stated, ” HGTV scared because they saw what happened with Paula Deen, they saw what happened with “Duck Dynasty,” and this is a … move to make sure that this doesn’t come back to bite them,”, referring to the controversies for offensive comments made by the stars on their respective shows. Twin brothers, Jason and David Benham, were set to host in Flip It Forward, giving families dream homes by transforming fixer-uppers, which was supposed to debut in October, but the HGTV network announced that the show would not move forward. Jason Benham is an actor and producer, known for his role in 2000′s Zeus: Master of Olympus, 2011′s Courageous, and 2014′s Discover Zac Ryan. Jason’s twin brother David Benham is a Real estate entrepreneur, also an actor and producer, known for his roles in Omg! Insider in 2004, Discover Zac Ryan in 2014 and the reality show, Flip It Forward which was shelved.

15)   My Big Family Renovation

Jen and Brandon Hatmaker and family, purchased a farmhouse in Texas, outside of Austin, and the family undertake the restoration of a 100-year-old farmhouse. The family of seven decides to take on a top-to-bottom home renovation. Jen Hatmaker, is a mommy blogger, while her husband, motorcycle-riding pastor Brandon Hatmaker and their five children are the stars of home renovation series on HGTV, My Big Family Renovation, which premiered on August.The series covers about the blogger Jen Hatmaker and her family’s journey as they sell their home and buy a 105-year-old farm house, which need major renovations and remodeling. The Hatmakers family, wanted their new home completed as soon as possible, but find it challenging to convert the structure into an open floor plan with six-bedroom home.

16)  Cousins Under Cover

Anthony Carrino, is an actor, known for Kitchen Cousins in 2011, and Cousins Undercover which was aired in 2013 with his cousin, John Colaneri also an actor, also appeared in 2011′s Kitchen Cousins, Four Houses Canada in 2012, and Cousins Undercover in 2013, which the cousins, Anthony and John, renovating, fixer-upper on outdated dysfunctional spaces.  Real-life-cousins, Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri, also known as Italian Jersey boys work their magic on the season finale of HGTV’s Cousins Undercover at 8 p.m. ET.  Anthony Carrino proposed and married Jenn on an episode of HGTV’s Kitchen Cousins with actress Vanessa Williams looking on, and the two recently tied the knot by the sea in Newport, Rhode Island.  John Colaneri, co-host of HGTV’s Kitchen Cousins with his cousin Anthony Carino, graduated in 2003, from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in labor and industrial relations with a minor in business management. John grew up with most of his family involved in construction, and also worked as a laborer when he was home from college in the summers. John Colaneri worked for his uncle’s company, Prismatic Development, where he was involved in many aspects of the construction process. His experience in construction business, his skills and eagerness to learn more, which made hima ready to devote time to the family’s construction business, Brunelleschi Construction. John Colaneri currently resides in Hoboken, N.J., with his family.

17) Yard Crashers

Yard Crashers is a DIY Network TV show, showing home owners surprised with a brand-new yard. Yard Crashers is hosted by a licensed contractor and reality TV host Matt Blashaw. Blashaw and his team ambushed the homeowners while they are home improvement shopping, follow them back to their homes, tear apart their yards and help them do a complete makeover backyard, which is completed in two days. Ahmed Hassan is the Yard Crasher‘s previous host from 2008 to 2011, and was later  replaced by Matt Blashaw in 2011. Many viewers of the Yard Crashers series, were upset with the change, spawning a few online petitions and websites. Blashaw is also taking a break from the show, hosting Vacation House For Free also on HGTV which started in summer 2014, with Chris Lambton who was temporary host of the Yard Crashers. Matt Blashaw born November 6, 1975, raised in Ornage County, California, who spent his teens and worked a his father’s lumberyard while studying. Blashaw is a licensed Contractor/Realtor, host for HGTV’s Professional Grade and Money Hunters on DIY Network, construction junkie, tool hoarder, founder of the Build For Love Foundation. Blashaw worked on variety of jobs in the construction and entertainment industry. Matt started his own home improvement company in 2014 and began working as a contractor. Matt Blashaw hosts Money Hunters in 2010, Deconstruction in 2008, Project Xtreme for DIY, Professional Grade for HGTV. and in 2011′s Worst Kitchen in America. Ahmed Hassan  has ended production on Yard Crashers, for unknown reasons, but will remain listed as a host for “classic” episodes. Ahmed tells news that a few previously shot and new episodes featuring him will debut in the coming months.

  Vacation House for Free
