Just recently, the whole world was shocked by the horrible Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, killing 27 people, which is most horrifying are schoolchildren ages six to seven years old and adults including the school principal and the shooter’s mother. Here are some files of shooting spree or massacre incidents. A spree killer is an individual who make an assault fatally on tow or more victims in just few minutes in multiple locations, or committing murders with no almost time break, which marks the difference of a spree killer from a serial killer. Thus, also sometimes referred to as amok or running amok for a killing spree perpetrated by a person out of rage, extreme anger in the form of insanity triggered by may be maltreatment, bullying, annoyed by family members or friends, extreme insult from someone and embarrassment.

Jeffrey Glenn Miller born, March 28, 1950 was an American student at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, when he was shot and killed by National Guardsmen of Ohio in the Kent State shootings where he died on May 4, 1970, when he took part in the protests against the Vietnam War expansion into Cambodia and throw tear-gas canister back at the Ohio National Guardsmen. Before his tragic death, in January 1970, Jeffrey Miller adapted quickly to students in Kent State and had many friends, which includes Allison Krause and Sandra Lee Scheuer who would both die with him on May 4. When Miller was shot, he was unarmed, facing the Guardsmen while standing in an access road leading into the parking area of the Prentice Hall, where a single bullet entered his open mouth and exited at the base of his posterior skull, killing him on the spot. The most famous picture from this tragic event featuring Mary Ann Vecchio, a 14 year-old runaway kneeling over Miller’s dead body. The three other students who were killed in the shootings includes, Allison Beth Krause, Sandra Lee Scheuer and William Knox Schroeder. The shootings led to national students strike and protests, causing hundreds of campuses to close because of both violent and non-violent demonstrations.

Allison B. Krause (April 23, 1951 – May 4, 1970) was a Kent State University honor student in Kent, Ohio. Allison Krause was shot and killed by the Ohio Army National Guard, while they joined the group of protestors reagrding the invasion of Cambodia in the Kent State shootings.   The Guardsmen opened fire on a group of unarmed students, killing four of them, at an average distance of about 106 meters or 345 ft. Krause was shot in the left side of her body at about 105 meters or 330 ft, wounding her fatally and killed her instantly.

Sandra Lee Scheuer August 11, 1949 – May 4, 1970) was an honor in student in speech therapy, but did not take part in the Vietnam War protests rally that preceded the shootings from Ohio National Guardsmen. Scheuer was shot through the throat with an M-1 rifle from a 119 meters or 130 yards, while on her way between classes, and died from loss of blood within five or six minutes after she was shot.

William Knox Schroeder (July 20, 1950 – May 4, 1970) was also a Kent State University student, when he was shot and killed by a single shot in the back from an  M-1 semi-automatic military rifle. According to some reports, William Schroeder was not taking part in the Vietnam War protests that preceded the shootings, and just simply walking between classes. The bullet entered his left back at the seventh rib, piercing his left lung, and some fragments exited from the top of his left shoulder, and died almost an hour later while in a hospital undergoing surgery.

The California State University, Fullerton massacre was a mass murder incident that occurred on Monday, July 12, 1976,  in Fullerton, California, United States. The 37 year-old gunman, Edward Charles Allaway, was a school library custodian, diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia, armed with a semi-automatic rifle Allaway, purchased at a Buena Park Kmart. Allaway killed seven people and wounded two others in the library’s first-floor lobby and at the building’s Instructional Media Center (IMC), located in the basement, before he fled the school campus. He later drove to a nearby Anaheim hotel where his former wife worked, and there, Allaway called the police to report his actions. Allaway’s apparent motive was that he thought that pornographers, were forcing his wife to appear in movies, and this issue served to enrage him. Allaway’s wife then had filed for divorce just before the attack occurred. Allegedly, the defense that commercial pornographic movies were being shown by library staff members before library opening hours and in break rooms, but Allaway’s wife was not in them.

The mass murder of San Ysidro McDonald’s massacre that occurred in a McDonald’s Fast Food in San Ysidro,California on July 18, 1984. James Oliver Huberty killed 21 people (including five children) and injured 19 others. James Oliver Huberty was born on October 11, 1942 in Canton, Ohio. Huberty was age three when he contracted polio disease. Huberty had an uncontrollable twitching right arm from a motorcycle accident, a condition that made him not capable to work as a welder, and was able to work again as a security guard, but was dismissed from his work two weeks before the shooting spree,  at McDonald fast food, about three blocks away from his apartment. Huberty and his family went to the San Diego Zoo on July 18 morning, and ate at the McDonald’s Clairemont neighborhood in northern San Diego, few hours before the “mass killings” occurred. Prior to that, Huberty’s wife, Etna, asked her husband where he is going, and he answered he was hunting for humans, and proceed to McDonald with his weapons, 9 mm Uzi semi-automatic (the only weapon used for the mass killings), a Winchester pump-action shogun 12-gauge and a 9 mm Browning HP. Huberty killed 21 people and injured 19 other people in is shooting spree, which his ms victims are Mexican migrants and Mexican-American with ages ranging from 8 months old baby to 74 year old people. When questioned by police, she gave no explanation as to why she failed to report this bizarre behavior. A witness who spotted him as he left his apartment and proceeded down San Ysidro Boulevard with two firearms phoned the police, but the dispatcher gave the responding officers the wrong address. The freaky shooting spree began at 3:59 p.m. and lasted for 77 minutes, where Huberty, spent 257 rounds of ammunition before he was shot fatally by a team sniper of the SWAT, Chuck Foster, a position that is secured on the roof of the post office adjacent to the restaurant.

Charles Carl Roberts IV born onDecember 7, 1973, was an American milk delivery driver, murdering five Amish girls ages from 6 to 13 years old, by firing his 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and at least three rounds from his shotgun, shot the girls in an execution style in the head, on , October 2, 2006 and killed himself along with his five victims. He killed five innocent children and injured five other people in an Amish school in Nickel Mines hamlet, in Bart Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Three of the girls died on the spot, while the two died the next morning from gunshot wounds, and five other girls were in the hospital in critical condition from severe injuries. Roberts was last seen by his wife at 8:45 a.m. when they walked their children to the bus stop for their school. Soon his wife returned home at 11:00 a.m., she found four notes, left by her husband for her and her children. According to some reports, Roberts contacted his wife while he was in the schoolhouse and told his wife, that he had molested two young female relatives (between the ages of three and five) some 20 years ago, and was may be 12 at that time, and had been daydreaming about molesting again. However, close relatives in question have denied these claims. Among the items found under Roberts, belongings found in school vicinity was a tube of KY Jelly, which investigators suspected he might have the intention to use it as sexual lubricant. The authorities found his suicide notes,which stated he was angry to God because of the death of his premature infant which occured some nine years ago.

The Chardon High School shooting , the freaky deadliest shooting spree in a public school that occurred on February 27, 2012, at Chardon High School, in Chardon, Ohio, United States. Three students died within the two days following the incident, and the two others were hospitalized, one of whom sustained minor injury and the other one with serious injuries that needs rehabilitation. A sixth student sustained a superficial wound. The shooting began at may be 7:30 AM (EST) in the cafeteria of the Chardon High School. The police authorities did not release the name of the shooter,  until late on February 27, because some witnesses recognized him as Thomas “T.J.” Lane, 17 (born September 19, 1994), and his name was all over the internet.

The Westroads Mall shooting was named a murder-suicide that occurred on December 5, 2007 Wednesday,  in Omaha, Nebraska at the Von Maur Department Store in the Westroads Mall, United States. Robert A. Hawkins , 19 years old, killed nine people (including himself) and wounded four, two of them critically,considered as the most freaky shooting spree in Nebraska, since the 1958 Charles Starkweather’s rampage. Robert Hawkins, stepped out from the elevator on the third floor and shot an open fire, killing eight people and wounding four other over the course of six minutes, around 1:43 p.m. CST (19:43 UTC), before he died from self inflicted gunshot wound to his head near the customer service desk. Robert A. Hawkins, born on May 17, 1988, was born at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath staion in Suffolk, England to an American parents. However, Hawkins was estranged from his parents and lived with two friends and their mother in Quail Creek Neighborhood of Bellevue, ranch-house style. Hawkins was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, unspecified mood disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and parent-child relation problem, and was undergoing treatment and attending therapy sessions, taking medication and being hospitalized for depression when he was six, and at he age 14, he was confined to a mental health treatment center for attempting to kill Candace Sims, his stepmother with an axe. Hawkins’ family were plagued by his psychiatric and mental disorders.

7)  Grand Rapids Shooting Spree, 2011

Rodrick Shonte Dantzler,age 34, a building technician,killed seven people and wounded two others in a mass murder in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 7, 2011. The deaths took place in two homes, with the two non-fatal gunshot injuries taking place on the road.  The suspected gunman, Rodrick Shonte Dantzler, the suspected gunman, later killed himself after taking three hostages, in a third home following a police chase. Among those killed  included Dantzler’s estranged wife, their daughter, his former girlfriend, and members of the other victims’ families. One of the non-fatal victims was also a friend with Dantzler. Dantzler was convicted of domestic violence and destroying property in 1997, and in 2000, he was involved in shooting a person in a rage from a road accident and was charged, and he was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison. In prison,  During Dantzler’s imprisonment period, he took part in programs to prevent anger and got the equivalent of a high school diploma , and was later released in 2005. Dantzler was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after his release, but did not take any medication and proper treatment, although some reports claim he was collecting disability money.

The Geneva County massacre, which occurred on March 10, 2009, which spanned two communities, the Geneva and Samson in Geneva County, Alabama, USA, that resulted in 10 death during a shooting spree, including two innocent children, by the gunman, Michael Kenneth McLendon, 28, born September 19, 1980. Most of the victims included McLendon family members, and he also burned down his mother’s house in the Kinston town. Some reports claimed, McLendon was shot and killed by the authorities, and other claimed he committed suicide with self-inflicted gun shot. The ages of the victims ranged from 18 months to 74 years old.Among the victims were the wife and child of a deputy sheriff, along with the suspect’s own mother, grandmother, uncle, niece and two cousins. Investigators of the crime scene, discovered a hit list in his home targeting numerous business corporations, a letter of confession that McLendon admitted to killing his mother and that he planned to commit suicide. The letter also indicated a dispute over a legal issue with his family, McLendon and his mother Lisa were both members of the Sellersville Assembly of God church, located just outside of Samson.

9) Copley Township shooting

The Copley Township shooting spree was committed by Michael E. Hance, 51, in Copley Township, Summit County, Ohio, on August 7, 2011, where seven people were shot dead before the gunman was shot and killed by Officer Ben Campbell. Using two handguns, including a Hi-Point.45 AP, which he bought from a pawn shop five days before, and a .357 Magnum six-shot revolver he bought from the same location way back in 2005. Michael Hance shot his girlfriend, Rebecca K. Dieter, 49, at 11 a.m., and the only survivor from the freaky shooting spree, before shooting seven more people. Hance allegedly shot and killed Autumn Johnson, 16, and her grandparents, Russell Johnson, 67 and Gudrun Johnson, 64, Craig Dieter, 51 (Rebecca’s brother) and Amelia Shambaugh, 16, were also killed. Hance then chased Bryan Johnson, 44,( the father of Autumn Johnson) northward, and shot him to death in a nearby driveway. Hance then followed victim Craig Dieter’s son, 11-year-old Scott Dieter, into a neighboring house where he was then shot and killed. As Hance was leaving the house, Officer Ben Campbell spotted him and asked him to freeze, but did not follow orders, and instead Hance then raised his weapon. Officer Ben Campbell shot and killed Hance.

10)  2011 Norway attacks

The 2011 Norway attacks were two subsequent lone wolf terrorist attacks against the government, the civilian population and a Worker’s Youth League (AUF) run Norway summer camp on July 22, 2011, claiming a total of 77 lives. The Norwegian Police arrested Anders Behring Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian right-wing extremist, on Utøya island and charged him with both attacks. On 24 August 2012 Breivik was convicted as charged and sentenced to 21 years of prevented detention in prison, which at the end can be repeatedly extended for 5 years as long as he is considered a threat to society, and he also underwent medical examination, by the forensic psychiatrists, and Breivik, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and they concluded he is a psychotic and he was criminally insane at the time he attacked and performed his terrorism. Anders Behring Breivik is the 2011 Norway attacks perpetrator and was on born February 13, 1979,  in a sequential bombing and mass shooting on July 22, 2011, he bombed Oslo government buildings, resulting in eight deaths, then carried out a mass shooting at a Worker’s Youth League (AUF) camp of the Labor Party on Utoya Island, where he killed 69 people, mostly teenagers, and was convicted of mass murder and terrorism that caused fatal explosion in August 2012.

The school shooting spree occurred on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School, at in Columbine, an unincorporated area of Jefferson County within the American State of Colorado. The Columbine High School massacre, was committed by, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, two senior students  murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher, and injured 21 students, with three other people being injured while attempting to escape the school. The two suspects then committed suicide.  The Columbine High School massacre is the fifth-deadliest mass murder committed upon a school campus in the history of United States, after the Bath School Disaster in 1927, Virginia Tech massacre in 2007, University of Texas massacre in 1966 (remains the deadliest American high school massacre) and the latest in 2012 the Sandy Hook shootingShooting spree and mass killings , that occur that always happened in school campus, have much discussion that also centered on the high school nature like cliques (narrow exclusive circle or group of persons), subcultures (cultural subgroup differentiated by status, ethnic background, residence, religion, or other factors), and bullying, the influence of violent movies and video games in American society. The shooting spree that resulted in a moral panic, which aimed at goth culture, social outcasts, gun culture, illegal used of drugs or pharmaceutical anti-depressants by most young students and teenagers, teenager‘s Internet access and usage, and violent video games or animation and childhood abuses from parents or elders, and an increased emphasis on school security. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold committed suicide by firing shotgun into the roof of his mouth (Harris) and Klebold using his TEC-9 semi automatic handgun shot himself in the left temple.

The school shooting spree at the Virginia Tech massacre that took place on April 16, 2007, on the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blackburg, Virginia, United States. The shooter was a South Korean citizen with the U.S. permanent resident status, as 23 year-old Seung-Hui Cho, he shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others, in two separate attacks, approximately two hours apart, before committing suicide (another 6 people were injured escaping from classroom windows. Cho, is a senior English major at Virginia Tech, was previously diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder and depression with selective mutism (an anxiety disorder that restrained him from talking). The shootings happened in separate incidents, the first at West Ambler Johnston Hall, where Cho killed two pupils, and the second at Norris Hall, where the other 31 deaths, including that of Cho himself, as well as all the nonlethal injuries, where he used two firearms during his shooting spree, (a 22-caliber Walther P22 semi-automatic handgun and a 9mm semi-automatic Glock 19 handgun.

Andrew Philip Kehoe was an American farmer and Township school board treasurer, was born on February 1, 1872, notable as the mass murderer, killing his own wife, 43 other people which of them a total of 38 children and injured 58  people when he set off explosives in the Bath School Disaster which occurred on May 18, 1927. Kehoe committed suicide near the school by throwing dynamite in his car, causing an explosion which killed several other people and wounded more. He had earlier set off explosives causing fire.devices in his house and farm, destroying all the buildings, as well as killing two horses and other animals.

The Strathfield massacre, in Sydney, Australia, was a shooting rampage that occurred on August 17, 1991, Saturday. The shooter was Wade Frankum, who killed himself as police arrived at the scene. The incident left eight dead and six wounded. Wade Frankum was born in 1958 and had worked at different kinds of occupations including as a retail assistant, he lived alone in his apartment, where the police found a large collection of violent literature and video copies of violent films. Frankum, 33 years old, went to the Strathfield Plaza shopping mall at around 1:00 p.m., sat down in a café called The Coffee Pot, where he drank a number of cups of coffee. At approximately 3:30 p.m., apparently without provocation, Frankum pulled a large knife from an army surplus duffel bag and repeatedly stabbed one of two teenage girls who were sitting behind him, killing the girl. Leaving the knife in the body of the girl, he pulled a China made SKS semi-automatic riffle out of his duffel bag and shot around the café, killing several more people. He then shot the café’s owner dead and fled into the main area of the mall, where he killed his last victim. Frankum ran into the rooftop car park and held a car owner at gunpoint, demanding that she take him to a nearby suburb, the Enfield. Before the woman could start her car, police began to arrive on the scene, and soon Frankum heard the approaching sirens, Frankum apologized to the woman and then got out of the car, knelt on the ground, and and shot himself in the head.

The school shooting spree at the Jokela school massacre occurred on November 7, 2007, at Jokela High School in Jokela town, Tuusula, Finland. The gunman, Pekka-Eric Auvinen, 18-year-old student, armed with semi-automatic pistol, he entered the school on that morning and killed eight people and wounded one person in the toe before shooting himself in the head. Auvinen died that evening in Helsinki hospital. This was the second school shooting incident in the history of Finland. The previous incident occurred in 1989 at the Raumanmeri School in Rauma, when a 14-year-old fatally shot two fellow students.Less than one year after the Jokela school massacre, the Kauhajoki school shooting occurred in Kauhajoki, where a gunman shot and killed ten people before killing himself.

The Kauhajoki school shooting which occurred on September 23, 2008, at Seinajoki University of Applied Sciences in Western Finland, and the gunman, Matti Juhani Saari, 22-year-old hospitality management student bron on May 20, 1986, fatally shot and injured ten people with his semi-automatic pistol, before he shot himself in the head. and died few hours after in Tampere University Hospital. One woman was injured but was in a stable condition.

On September 13, 2006, a shooting rampage occurred at Dawson College, a CEGEP located in Westmont near Montreal downton, Quebec, Canada, and the incident was known as Dawson College shooting murder. Kimveer Gill, the perpetrator, was a 25 year-old Indo-Canadian born in Lachine, Quebec, Canada, from a Punjabi descent and moved to Saint-Laurent, Quebec from India in 1981. Kimveer Gill began his shooting spree outside the de Maisonneuve Boulevard entrance to the school, and moved towards the atrium by the cafeteria on the main floor. At the crime scene, one victim died, while another 19 were injured, eight of whom were listed in critical condition with six requiring surgery. The Kimveer Gill, later shot himself in the head , after he was shot by a police officer in his arm. The victims were treated at the Montreal General Hospital, and some were brought to Montreal area hospitals. This shooting incident is actually the third fatal school shooting in Montreal, after the Ecole Polytechnique massacre in 1989 and the Valery Fabrikant shooting spree in 1992 at Concordia University.

The École Polytechnique Massacre, also known as the Montreal Massacre, occurred on December 6, 1989, and the perpetrator was Marc Lepine, 25 year-old, armed with a legally obtained hunting knife and Mini-14, shot twenty-eight people before killing himself. He began his attack by entering a classroom at the university, where he separated the male and female students, and claimed that he was “fighting feminism“, and after that,he shot all the women inside the room, killing six. He then moved through corridors, the cafeteria, and another classroom, specifically targeting women to shoot. Overall, he killed fourteen women and injured ten other women and four men in just under twenty minutes before he shot and killed himself. Lépine’s mother is a French-Canadian and an Algerian father, and was reported that Lepine was physically abused by his father. Lepine’s suicide note claimed political motives and blamed feminists for ruining his life. The suicide note included a list of nineteen Quebec women whom Lépine considered to be feminists and apparently wished to kill.

The Appalachian School of Law shooting was a school shooting spree which happened that occurred on January 16, 2002, at the Appalachian School of Law, an accredited private law school, the American Bar Association in Grundy, Virginia, United States. A former law student, Peter Odighizuwa, 43-yer old Nigerian descent , opened fire in the school with a handgun, killing three people and three others were wounded on January 16, 2002. Odighizuwa first discussed his academic problems with professor Dale Rubin, where he reportedly told Rubin to pray for him. Odighizuwa returned to the school around 1:00 pm and proceeded to Dean Anthony Sutin, and Professor Thomas Blackwell offices, where he opened fire with a .380 ACP semi-automatic handgun. The county coroner reports claimed that both victims, Sutin and Blackwell were shot at point blank range  indicated by the powder burns. Also killed was student Angela Dales. Three students were wounded.Initially in 2002, Odighizuwa was found to be “incompetent” to stand trial and was referred for psychiatric treatment and was treated for three years and monitored in 2005, and Odighizuwa was found mentally competent and pleaded guilty to the murders to avoid the death penalty, and was sentenced with three life sentences, and an additional 28 years without the possibility of parole.

Charles Joseph Whitman was born on June 24, 1941, in Lake Worth, Florida,was an engineering student and former Marine, who killed 13 people and an unborn child , wounding 32 others in a shooting spree located around the University of Texas Tower on August 1, 1966, afternoon. The Fort Hood shooting was a shooting rampage that took place on November 5, 2009, at Forth Hood, a U.S. military installation in the world, in Killeen, Texas.  U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, serving as psychiatrist, was the single gunman killing 13 people and wounded 29 other people. It is known the worst shooting spree incident that took place on an American military base. Nidal Hasan, is of American-Palestinian descent, was shot and taken into custody by Department of the Army Civilian Police officers, and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and faced additional charges at court-martial. If he is convicted, he could be given the death penalty.

On December 14, 2012, at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, a gunman killed overall total of death twenty-eight children, ages six and seven years old, 8 boys and 12 girls and six adult staff members in the Sandy Hook Village of Newtown, Connecticut, killing himself afterwards. It was considered as the second-deadliest mass shooting incident in the history of the United States, after the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007. It was also second-deadliest shooting rampage  historically the on an American public school, after the Bath School Disaster of 1927 The lone gunman, Adam Peter Lanza, 20 year-old,was born on April 22, 1992, in Exeter, New Hampshire, was identified by authorities as first killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, age 52, at 9:30 a.m. on December 14, 2012. He then drove his mother’s car to the Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he forced his way into the building, wearing black military-style gear, with a bullet-proof vest, and started firing approximately half an hour after the school hours began. Teacher Victoria Soto attempted to hide several children in the closet and cupboards, when Lanza entered Soto’s room, whereupon Soto put herself between him and her students, and was fatally shot in the process. Lauren Rousseau, a substitute teacher since October, was reported to have been shot in the face and was killed instantly, while Anne Marie Murphy‘s body was found in her classroom amongst her students bodies in a position of shielding them. The shooting lasted only a few minutes, during which time witnesses said the perpetrator did not say a word, Governor Dannel Malloy, was the first to respond in the shooting rampage incident, said, Lanza killed himself upon hearing the first responders arriving at the school vicinity. The shooting stopped between 9:46am and 9:53am, where a toll, fifty to hundred shots were fired, where all victims were shot multiple times, at least one victim was shot eleven times. Those students and teachers who knew Adam Lanza in high school described him as goth, intelligent, but nervous and fidgety, and believed to be suffering from personality disorder and somewhat autistic, according to his brother Ryan Lanza, who voluntarily submitted himself for questioning, by the New Jersey police, Connecticut State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Although Ryan Lanza, was not considered a suspect and was not taken into custody, and said he had not been in touch with his brother since 2010. The comments on mainstream media on speculations about “unverified autism” ans Asperger syndrome was criticized by autistic advocates.
